English > Documentary about the Bymyra project in Gambia by Floris Hendriks

HKU student Floris Hendriks has made a beautiful, half-hour documentary, “BYMYRA,” which depicts the principles, purpose, and inspiration of the Bymyra project in words and images.

Ida Ndow, founder of the Bymyra Bilingual School and the Bymyra Skills Centre, Bertie Hendriks, chair of the CameroonWorks foundation, and Abdoulie Jalow, head of the upper grades, discuss their passion for improving education in Gambia.

They discuss topics such as trust, employing women, and the conditions for a successful project in Africa, interspersed with beautiful footage from the school and beyond.

Floris will be carried as a participant in the Journey to the Heart of Africa, February-March 2025.
The documentary was first shown at the farewell evening for Ida Ndow and Bussel Bussel in September 2025.
